Baby’s first New Year’s Eve and we’ve made it as exciting as it could be…
To start off for the day, we had had brunch with baby Dana and Jason at the Le Meridian. Baby was exceptionally happy to see the two of them as well as the uncles and aunties. She’s so overwhelmed that she only managed to finish 1/5 of her congee!! Worried that she might be hungry, and to keep her busy during Daddy & Mummy’s gourmet time, Daddy gave her a huge chunk of bread to chew on. With baby’s clumsy hands and aggressive little mouth trying to devour as much bread as possible, it sure was a great show of messiness with half of the bread crumbs spatted and smashed all over the hands, clothes, chair, table and floor!!
At evening, after a brief visit to Grandma, we went straight off to Disney joining sister Joyce for the Disney count down. With sister Joyce, baby was a lot more happier than her last Disney trip which was barely a week ago. She & Joyce really
enjoyed each other’s company. The whole Disney count down was finally concluded with the mid-night fireworks (which ended quite abruptly :

I get used to stay with Dad, one-on-one. I behaved so well in the last 3 days and we just get along so well. Daddy takes me out and I have my meals and sleep at the right time without trouble. I even sleep myself whenever Daddy put me on the cot and plays those boring music. I know Daddy really appreciates this. Of course, I have to make sure that Daddy will get enough time to prepare for the next trip and meal for me! This is also the signal to Dad that I am happy with what he has done with me in the past 3 big days.
PS.  It is not that tough to stay one-on-one with baby. Glad that Daddy has made the right decision, put aside his works and spend 100% of his time with me. It is a bit luxury to him but it worths and he enjoys it too. I am sure he wants to do this the other time…

Baby has has been going out everyday since Dec 22, and this day was no exception.
We had dim sum lunch with 2 ex-DTT colleagues who first met baby when she’s just a 1-day newborn. This second greeting sure did bring about lots of surprises for these 2 auntie & uncle. While auntie & uncle are overwhelmed with how “big” baby has grown, baby was all along smiling & chatting with people on the next table. Was she on the wrong table ??!!Â

Ok, Chirstmas is over, Mum back to work, Tata still on holiday… There aree only baby Davina and Dad for the rest of the week until weekend. What shall we do in these 3 big days? There isn’t much chance that we can have such private and cosy time together, right? So lets stick close together, forget about office work (although I did attempt to switch on the notebook, but it was never logged in!) and think about how can we make best use of these 3 days.
First thing I would do is to make some good food for baby. Then some quality time to play which is always the no.1 thing Davina wants. Well, we should achieve something which normal days won’t do. Oh yes, why not prepare baby for a trip, i.e. travelling documents. Making use of baby sleeping time, I prepared food for her, got ready baby and myself to be out as well as filled up the downloaded forms for document application. Yes, I know that I have to prepare everything at home since I won’t be able to do it at the immgration office.
Photos – how can I take photo for baby? After 30min of queuing, instant photo station keeper dare to tell me she is not willing to take photo for baby!! What? We walk all the way back to Wanchai downtown and find a photo-shop. We manage to get baby’s attention and ready 1,2,3… Right before the button is pressed, a fat lady jumped out in attempt to catch baby’s attention to the camera. My God, that helpless fat mid-
aged lady indeed trapped baby’s attention, but to herself not to the camera! We spent another 5-10mins in order to get baby back to the camera. That fat lady is just too big to be missed! Most disappointingly, the quality of the photo print out was bad. We spent an hour on this for nothing good. I know that we have to take another set somewhere later to meet the extreme high standard of our nation i.e. Chinese travel card.
Another challenge come up when we filed the form – we need someone to declare the baby in the photos is baby Davina! What a rule? Fortunately, we have Uncle Barry working nearby and we managed to get him to help us.  We walk to Grand Hyatt and baby had her tea time (milk) at the park there while waiting for Uncle Barry. Baby is so tired, so I walk gently back to immigration office when I carry baby to sleep. When we go back, the security has closed the main door, I have to explained to them and get the way in again through another door.
What a day! 6 hours! It is 6pm when we finished the filing. We picked up Mum when we went home. Well, at least, we are happy that baby Davina will have an HKID card and a Passport in a month time! She can fly soon!

Dear Aunites and Uncles,

Many thanks for your lovely Christmas presents to light up my first Christmas Boxing Day.  It is a pleasure to unbox all the gifts and they all taste delicious!! I guarantee that I tested them all with my month. You know what, lots of hard works and I have to sleep for 3 hours after all those unwrapping and try out. It was my record napping too (to ensure Dad and Mum have enough time to send this message and clean up the venue)
Love,
Davina Yau Yau

We had a Christmas eve dinner at home tonite with turkey, escargots, smoked salmon etc., and, of course, baby had a share of some of those tasty food. We only had a small party of 7 (including baby), thus, it’s not a frantic Chistmas party, it’s only a chit-chat dinner. But baby very much enjoyed it and would like to join in the conversation whenever she felt right or high.Â
With a couple of unsuccessful attempts by Daddy to put baby to sleep, we gave in and Davina won a seat in the adult forum at around 11pm. Gossiping continued and she enjoyed it till the end at around 11:30pm. She said bye to aunties and uncles… sweet sleep. A busy day and first taste of her Merry Christmas.
